EHI-3N Black Rhimos <Newtype>
Zenebas Empire
Elite Unit Use (Deathsaurer Battalion)
Rhinoceros Type

Photos and text by mechanical_wunder

Da Box and it's contents.

Black Rhimos ram em up quickie

Somehow or the other, there'll be couple of folks deeply in love with the Black Rhimos and it's varients. It's heavy armour with
extreme weapons load plus a deadly ram/impale drill hole captivated many collectors alike. The Black Rhimos as shown is the
Newtype varient. Why Newtype? Togather with Brachios Newtype, the Black Rhimos served as part of the Deathsaurer battalion.
Nothing much were changed between the first and the Newtype. The only difference are the colours and that's about it. ultimately, all are
OJR catagory.

Their porsche motor.

The blah blah Black Rhimos

A medium sized wind-up Zoid by nature, it shouldn't take alot of time for anyone to assemble the Black Rhimos.
Powered by the Hi-Power 1000 wind-up motor, the Zoid will move forward and upon lowering down the rhino's head
the gear underneath the head will connect with the main gear on the motor, and kick start the drill horn for some
spinning action. A fairly simple with a single gimmick for the Zoid.

Front side profile.

Rear side profile.

Pilot/co-pilot buddy love.

Lower the head and the horn drill will impale enemy's armour with ease.

Co-pilot also served as recon scout.

Summary

A recommended Zoid only if you're seriously into Rhinoceros, red fetish or completist like me. Or else the usually high hard to reach
price level will deter the common collector. But there's a cheaper Hasbro varient for the budget minded, and they're coming from the
same overused mould.

The old and the new.

Corocoro's Black Rhimos was almost there with the Newtype but the colours ain't the same.

Their color scheme differences remind of the Deathsaurer.

I love the Black Rhinos- one of my favourite Zoids for the reasons you mentioned. Also it's like a mini Redhorn, which can only be ace.

Good review thanks.

本当にありがとう (Thank you very much) to Melvin, Tanlin, Ed, Hiroki and Pawl.

The Black Rhimos (old one/teal caps) was one of my favourite back then but I've overlooked it for sometime. To write and share
with you guys here is an objective I felt oblicated to do. The Newtype varient togather with Brachios and the Great Sabre served as elite
units for the Deathsaurer during her final days before the Mad Thunder came about. Thus the black and bright red colour coordination.

Lastly, I have to apologise regarding Melvin's unusual comment thought. Everyone has their opinions and the blah blah and it isn't a must
to reply or say anything if one don't feel like it. As long there's someone seen my article even without replies I'm pretty happy already.
Finally, the style of writing has changed over the months due to I've wanted to cut things short in a easy yet fun way of reading. Pictures
themselves will tell the story and that's enough already.

Rhinos ramming in!

I have Metal Rhimos and Gen. Hebby Rhimos, gotta love the spinning horn mechanism!  It is a nice wind-up Zoids to have.

One thing to add : the red is not the sole difference with the OJR Black Rhimos. The black too, is brighter than the first version of this Zoid.

@SK, thanks for the boost up. The rhino is definitely a great addition for any collection, and I'll continue to hunt for the first version.
I have the metal version too, but I'll keep and build it for your sake :)

I forgot about mentioning this too about the clear parts and the shiner black. Thanks for pointing out Lionel and Melvin.
At first I thought something weird about the box and actual clear parts supplied, the box showed green parts while the sprue given is red.

See Andy's pic for a good example:

This the first Black Rhimos with green clear parts and teal caps.

Jeff, awesome pictures again. I've always wanted this Newtype, but never got lucky on Yahoo Japan. Perhaps sometime later I'll get one, but no hurry. I have the original Black Rhimos. I figure mine is the OER version, but it arrived with a busted left? right? rear leg support peg, so he can't move very well..

No, it was the same sticker sheet than all the Super 1000 of the same period. Even Helldigunner had the same, but in green.

@Charlie & Lionel, with the exception of Wardick I think all the Zenebas Hi Power Up 1000 are using the same sticker sheet, based on what I have. Heldigunner for OJR has a different sheet.

@Stormy, thanks Bro and do complete the Rhimos family just like KatanaZ did. Happy rhinos family.

@Rant, do grab one of YJA but of course at your targetted price level.

Loving the pics! Nice comparison too.

Maybe this review will convince TT to have more rhino-type zoids? A battery-op one would be really nice!

Thank you sir!

I do like to see another rhino design and hopefully in this Rebirth project there'll be one :)

The Newtype is the only one I lack, so gonna have to hunt one down. Got the OER, zoids2 "Redhorn", MetalRhinos NAR, NARx3, Heavy & Generations x2.

I agree completely with MW that a new Rhino is long overdue- Redhorn-sized would be ace..as well as a bigger, badder Redhorn of course. Redhorn has the cruelest jawline in all Zoiddom, so that has to be translated of course...

BTW, has anyone else attached the CP04 to a Rhinos? Fits perfectly if you use the Cannon Tortoise clip & looks ace.

Yes, if I'm correct, Wardick has a sticker sheet similar to Storch and Sea Panther, Zoids from the same period.

Another superb review MW. I still can't get over how crystal-clear your pics are!

I always wondered why the Deathsaurer platoon had black armour when the Deathsaurer has coppery-brown armour. It would make more sense to have them all unified.

You're right, unfortunately this also means scratches show up more clearly. the Empire Newtypes are definitely a good example of Zoids that need to be kept out of action!
