I acquired both versions of Hammer Rock late into the collection, in fact it was one of the very last pieces I needed to complete the NJR line. I was lucky to land both versions at nearly the same time. I ended up ordering the NJR version, and the OJR version was a gift from none other than Doc (Zoidspoison.com) himself. All the pieces in my collection remind me of different times when they were built, and some of the most special pieces are those that were given to me. The OJR Hammer Rock is one such piece.

Lets take a look at both versions.

I enjoy both boxes. nothing beats vintage boxes, but the Iron Kong PK featured on the NJR Hammer Rock makes for a wicked box front also.

Below, a closer look at the sprues of each version:

The most obvious variation on is on the clamshell head pieces curvature which is way more prominent on the OJR version.

The NJR version features a truly awesome sticker sheet. Giving the Zoider a choice between the three main logo's: Killer Bee, Strong Arm, and Sledge Hammer it is one of the better sticker sheets ever produced. The OJR sticker sheet is a foil based sheet with vintage style graphics that, when placed, give the piece that true OJR flavor.

Pictured below is the build process which is identical in both versions. The build is simple, fun, and satisfying and I highly recommend this piece be added to any collection.

Great comparison WIKD and hammerrock is officially top 3 of my favourite windups. Don't you think it looks so much like Mighty Joe?

Interesting comparison, especially the colour sccheme. The OJR Hammerock has a similar colour scheme to IK PK, while the NJR has a similar colour scheme to Deadly Kong. Coincidence perhaps?

Should have a mini-deadly kong as well. I wonder if the Philippines giveaway fast-food deadly kong parts can fit into the main body unit of Hammerrock.

There are four reason why I have three Hammerrocks in my collection.

1.) He's a great Wind Up Zoid
2.) CP-24
3.) CP-25
4.) CP-26

I tried to sqeeze CP-24 and CP-25 on him. He looks kinda overloaded and I apologize for the terrible picture quality. I'll get a better one here soon!

I share the same reasons with you.  Do a group pic just like the elephanders on your sig (I have five of the elephanders though).

Would you believe every part from CP-24 and 25 are on him except for the gun barrels from CP-24, which were never really intended for hammerrock anyway?

And the best part is that he STILL walks when you wind him up with all that stuff hanging on him!

Just goes to show, he's one tough Iron Monkey!

Five, eh? One comander, three troopers, and a sniffer?

I plan on doing the Hammerrocks soon. I got the 24 and 25 ready. I just get nervous everytime I look at that hard to find CP-26 on my shelf. I don't want to mess that one up.

I got the three basic configs, Th CP-15 regular head and, gunner trunk config, and a custom I'll try in the future with as many spare parts of the elephander that I can fit.

A parts swap on those Hammers would be pretty cool, too.  One would look like a mini Kong with red-black, the other would be two-tone grey.  Nice side-by-side review!  I still don't have an OJR Hammer.  :(

Thanks, I think 24 and 26 looks better on the stand alone unit, and 25 was menat to support the other two.

Your Welcome I definitely see your point of view. I have always thought an alternative configuration was for CP-26 to be a long range strategical, CP-24 to be a medium range Strategical, and CP-25 to be an "in your face" close combat config.

Just depends on how you like to use them I guess.

Your welcome Edmaestro. I really do love Hammerrocks. They are neat without the CP-s, but they are just a taaaaad more fun with 'em.

That's great! Can't quite believe that it can carry the CPs...

I din get Hammer coz I had a lousy experience with the OER version (Should be OER since I got when I'm a kid and there are english wordings on it.) It does not move at all. The limbs will only move when I lift it up in the air. :(maybe the spring coil was too crappy for the heavy forearms.)

Anyway, fantastic pics of the monkeys!
