Managed to get 2 boxes of the LB Iron Kong from Takashimaya last night, thanks to 120kph's info, so I just built one of them. The other box is meant for someone else.

Since I've yet to see a review of this kit apart from the Japanese site, here goes:

Box Front

Box Rear

Now I like the artwork they did for this LB Iron Kong, makes it look pretty interesting. The rear of the box shows a pic in the middle denoting the weaponry seen on this LB Iron Kong, and the statistics for the critter.

Indentation

Something else I noticed while removing the tape from the box flaps was the presence of these indented characters "H 0 6". Perhaps an indicator of box size as previously discussed elsewhere.

Contents

Here's the contents straight out of the box. The instruction manual is a generic version much like the LB Gojulas's instruction sheet. It's just 1 piece of paper actually. Even simpler than your average Blox manual, I think.

So what do I do next? I get itchy and bugger gets built.

Step 1

Assembling the head was a breeze, however take note, the frontal part of the "face" can get pretty loose if you move the head too much when its fixed onto the main body.

Step 2

Next the missile launchers get built. I quite like this piece of equipment. They managed to miniaturise the backpack and the missile launchers. The missiles and the turning base can be manually rotated around.

Step 3

Next was fixing up the shoulder weapon, which is a fairly simple 2-piece design. I would have liked it better had it been able to fire a smaller projectile..

Step 4

Step 4 in the instructions comes to the assembly of the two arms. Pardon the fuzzy pic.

Step 5

Next in line are the legs, which are fairly sturdy looking. However their degree of articulation, especially in the foot joint is a downer. I would have liked it had the feet been able to bend a little more for posing.

Step 6

Last to get built is assembling the main body together.

Final result after a short period of assembling the bits together:

LBZ-04 LB Iron Kong

This is by far one of the best Legend Blox releases. The colours are reminiscent of the OJR Iron Kong, and the whole thing looks great when fully assembled. If you have a chance to get one, grab it. They're currently on 20% off over at Takashimaya right now. I remember there were 2 boxes left after I purchased my pair. However I reckon they'll probably restock it again.

I hope the review was good enough to encourage you folks to get one NOW.

Wow... thanks alot Stormhawk for the writeup...

It sure helps to fills in my day.... Btw, the chest armour, is it able to be open just like the standard IK...?

Btw, for the indentation. I can more or less confirm that its for the size of the box. I was doing some packing and notice that the indentation also appears in the other standard boxes...

Nope, the chest piece is unlike that on the standard IK. However it can move a little since the back piece and the chest piece are connected to each other during assembly. You can see what I mean when you get your own LB Iron Kong.

One more question.... I try looking in detail on Zoidscorner for the IK pics and notice that the articulations for the arms are really good. Does the LBZ package comes with the joints to make the IK that posable...? Thanks...

Yes, those joints are present on the sprue of NeoBlox joints that come with the kit itself. You just have to arrange it yourself according to the order shown on that website. I did not notice that this was possible until you posted the link.

I'll probably do the chest-beating gorilla pose later, since I already have some precut pieces for those joints in question.

So points about the joints isn't specify on the instruction sheet itself but its left for you to explore on yourself...?

Oh, sorry another point of doubt is that, from the pics shown on the zoidscorner, it seems the the underlying chest piece conceals a ball...? Is that also true in the standard package or is that a customs done by the author...? Thanks...

That ball thing comes from that Jr Iron Kong from the OJR series. That's a small poseable figure I think, which resembles this LB Iron Kong in size.

Thanks Stormhawk....

I kind of like the line for the legend blox, but maybe theres room for improvement.. Maybe includes a sticker sheet...? I was thinking maybe with the stickers to decorate the kit a little would be nice, otherwise, it seems a little too plain and dull...

Got mine yesterday...

Wyvern,  The J sprue only has four J2 pieces, you'll need 2 more to do the Yeti pose.

If you're going to follow Zoidscorner's instruction, YES your right... You won't have all the parts you need...

Currently as of Sat noon, only Taka has stock, and I have checked Isetan, Metro, Toysrus, OG, Seiyu, Robinson and John Little.

I'm curious does the black have a rough texture to it like it seems to have in the pictures?  It seems it could also be metalic specks also.  Which is it or is it neither and the pictures are just making it look so?

Thanks for the info Mervin, I did not realise that was the case. However I think without 2 extra J2 pieces, you can make the connector for the chest-beating gorilla pose. I'll try it out with my bunch of extra Neoblox connectors.

Thanks for the review. I will probably take one in the future, even if it is a Neo Blox. I have the time, for now, there are more important things to buy.
I wil probably use the yeti pose too, very funny, and taking less space.

Still waiting for the PK version.  I hope the extra weapons would look as great as the GTO version.

The black plastic has some lightly textured parts, which are not rough to the touch, and some areas are smooth, even on the same part. There are no "metallic specks" in the plastic, from what I can see.

Hi Stormhawk, if possible can show some pics on how to achieve on fixing up the joints, thanks...

Hello wyvern, and anyone else who's interested, its not possible to do the joint unless its done in the way shown on Zoidscorner.

I thought this other part found on the J sprue of connectors would suffice for the first section of the joint to the main arm, but the hole at the end was too small to fit nicely onto the peg of the main arm. That means an extra pair of J2 connectors is still required, but for those with a bunch of these NeoBlox, you should have extras lying around anyway.

However, after doing the connection like what was shown on Zoidscorner and Mervin's pics, the joint itself got too tight and now I have problems dislodging the 3 parts from each other. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you lubricant the joints beforehand. They're a pain to take apart and I am regretting the attempt. I'll leave the "Yeti-pose" for now and stick with its standard posture.

Thanks Stormhawk for the feedback and sorry to hear that you are unable to dislodge it...

I wonder if its too tight to even turn it...? I think dislodge its a little tough, but how about turning...? Is it also tight...? Thanks..
